Ministry of Culture to showcase Egyptian heritage at New Alamein Festival – Dailynewsegypt
The Egyptian Ministry of Culture will present a diverse program of over 100 artistic events at the second edition of the New Alamein Festival, running from July 14 to August 28.
This participation aims to showcase the richness of Egypt’s artistic heritage through a variety of performances, exhibitions, and workshops.
“We are significantly increasing the number of artistic presentations and exhibition days this year, featuring more than 100 diverse events that embody Egyptian arts and authentic heritage,” said Minister of Culture Ahmed Hanno.
“Our collaboration with the United Media Services Company at the New Alamein Festival underscores our belief in the power of art and culture to strengthen Egyptian national identity and raise awareness across society.”
The Minister emphasized the festival’s significance as a platform to showcase the depth and variety of Egyptian culture.
He also highlighted the Ministry’s support for initiatives that solidify Egypt’s position as a global cultural and tourist destination, recognizing the crucial role cultural tourism plays in boosting the national economy and creating job opportunities for young Egyptians.
The Ministry’s program features an increased number of artistic performances and exhibitions compared to the festival’s inaugural edition. Entertainment events will take place every Sunday through Wednesday evening, with a dedicated concert featuring a selection of artists and artistic groups held each Thursday at the Roman Theater in the Heritage City.
New additions to this year’s festival include an artistic carnival presented by the National Circus in the New Alamein entertainment area. For the first time, there will also be a pavilion showcasing traditional crafts from the products of the Traditional Crafts Center in Fustat. Additionally, mobile libraries from the General Egyptian Library will participate in hosting artistic and cultural workshops for children.
The Ministry will also contribute to the “Nabta” Festival for children, featuring talented young participants who have won Ministry of Culture competitions.
Throughout the festival, the Ministry of Culture will present a distinguished selection of artistic and entertainment performances reflecting Egypt’s artistic heritage.
This will be delivered by 17 troupes affiliated with the General Organization for Cultural Palaces, including folk art troupes representing various regions across the country.
The diverse program also includes performances by the Nile Folk Music and Singing Troupe, Al-Anfusy for Eastern Rhythms, the Heritage Tanoura Troupe, and the Arab Opera.
The first week (July 14-17) will feature artistic performances by the Heritage Tanoura, Arab Opera, and Al-Anfusy for Eastern Rhythms troupes, alongside folk art presentations by Al-Horreya Alexandria, Al-Anfusy, and Malawi troupes. The week’s activities will culminate with a concert for the House of the Oud on July 20.
The second week (July 21-25) offers artistic performances by the Asyut, Sharqia, Matrouh, and Al-Horreya for Folk Arts troupes, alongside the Arab Opera Troupe. The week concludes with a concert by the Egyptians Band, conducted by maestro Hani Shenouda, on July 27.
