Al-Sisi, Pavel discuss strengthening Egypt-Czech ties, regional issues in phone call – Dailynewsegypt

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and his Czech counterpart, Petr Pavel, reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering bilateral relations in a phone call on Tuesday.

The discussion highlighted the strong bond between the two nations and the potential for further cooperation, particularly in the economic and commercial sectors.

The conversation also addressed a range of regional and international matters of shared interest, including the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and the situation in the Gaza Strip.

President Al-Sisi stressed the importance of peaceful solutions to international and regional conflicts. He emphasized the need for international collaboration to secure an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people.

The Egyptian leader further underscored the necessity of proactive measures to prevent further escalation and achieve a comprehensive, equitable solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state principle.

Egypt and the Czech Republic enjoy a long-standing relationship, with diplomatic ties established in 1920 between Egypt and the former Czechoslovakia. The two countries recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of their close relations.

A significant milestone in this partnership was the “Czech arms deal” to Egypt in 1955, which provided critical support to Egypt’s security and independence at a pivotal time.

Both countries’ political leadership recognizes the importance of expanding economic cooperation. Egyptian exports to the Czech Republic include cotton products, fresh produce, textiles, and machinery, while Czech imports to Egypt encompass automobiles, iron and steel products, machinery, and medical supplies.
