Egypt’s Foreign Minister hold calls with EU’s Borrell, Türkiye’s Fidan – Dailynewsegypt
Egypt’s newly appointed Foreign Minister, Badr Abdelaty, held separate phone calls on Sunday with European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell and Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
In his call with Borrell, Abdelaty received congratulations on his new position and discussed the advancement of relations between Egypt and the EU.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to developing a strategic partnership. The success of the recent Egypt-European Investment Conference was highlighted as a positive step, demonstrating Egypt’s attractiveness to European investors.
Abdelaty emphasized the importance of implementing the Egypt-EU Comprehensive Partnership Agreement across its six pillars, including the swift disbursement of financial aid packages. They also agreed on continued consultation and coordination in accordance with the joint political declaration on strengthening political dialogue.
Cooperation on Gaza Crisis
The discussion with Borrell also addressed the ongoing crisis in Gaza. Abdelaty expressed appreciation for the EU’s positive stance and reiterated Egypt’s desire to work alongside the bloc to end the conflict and facilitate humanitarian aid delivery.
He called for continued EU support for the Palestinian Authority to fulfil its responsibilities towards the Palestinian people. Egypt, he added, remains committed to collaborating with the EU to promote regional stability and address current crises.
Egypt-Türkiye Relations
During the call with Fidan, Abdelaty received congratulations and discussed advancing bilateral relations between Egypt and Türkiye.
Fidan emphasized the strong historical ties between the two countries and expressed a desire for enhanced cooperation at all levels. Both sides agreed on the importance of continued coordination on regional and international challenges.
Abdelaty reciprocated Fidan’s sentiments, highlighting the deep historical bonds and the Egyptian leadership’s commitment to further progress in bilateral relations.
He stressed the importance of coordinating on regional and international issues of mutual interest, both bilaterally and through multilateral frameworks. This collaboration, he stated, would contribute to the well-being of both countries and regional security.
