Foreign, petroleum ministers discuss boosting investment in Egypt’s energy sector
Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi held a high-level meeting to discuss enhanced cooperation between their ministries, aimed at attracting greater foreign investment into Egypt’s petroleum sector and opening new avenues for Egyptian companies to compete globally through the Egypt Exploration and Production (E&P) Gateway.
During the discussions, Abdelatty underscored the importance of strengthening energy partnerships with regional countries to solidify Egypt’s role as a regional hub for energy trade and transit. He highlighted the strategic use of Egypt’s advanced infrastructure and the need to exchange expertise with energy-producing nations in exploration, production, and modern extraction technologies. According to Abdelatty, these measures are key to attracting foreign investment and achieving significant progress in the sector.
Minister Badawi provided an update on ongoing regional projects that link gas fields to Egyptian facilities, enhancing energy security across the region. He praised successful partnership models in the natural gas sector, noting that Egypt’s LNG plants and extensive transport networks position the country as a vital platform for regional economic integration.
Badawi also stressed the importance of promoting the expertise of Egyptian petroleum companies internationally. Coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he explained, will help open new markets for Egyptian companies and highlight their proven ability to deliver major projects abroad. He noted that Egyptian firms already maintain a strong record of success across multiple international markets.
The meeting reaffirmed both ministries’ commitment to leveraging the E&P Gateway as a central platform to attract foreign investment and showcase Egypt’s capabilities in exploration, production, and energy infrastructure, strengthening the country’s position in regional and global energy markets.
