Egyptian Golf Federation hails ‘historic’ financial turnaround as international focus returns
The Egyptian Golf Federation has announced a record financial surplus and a renewed focus on global competition following a sweeping restructuring of the organisation.
Under the leadership of President Omar Hisham Talaat, who took charge last November, the governing body reported a “historic” surplus of EGP 7m generated in just seven months.
The figures were presented during the federation’s General Assembly, where members backed the board’s strategic plan to secure commercial sponsorships and partnerships with major institutions.
International return Beyond the balance sheet, the Egyptian Golf Federation outlined its roadmap to restore Egypt’s presence on the international circuit.
Plans are already in place to host global tournaments starting from the 2025/2026 season, a move designed to drive sports tourism and provide elite competition for domestic players. The federation emphasised that future selection for international duty would be based on “clear criteria” to ensure transparency.
Assembly backing The meeting was chaired by federation’s Vice President Mohamed Anwar, attended by delegates from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and representatives from leading clubs including Gezira, Sporting, and Palm Hills.
Following the presentation of the financial report by auditor Tarek Hashish, the assembly praised the rapid progress made since the board assumed responsibility late last year.
“There is still much more to come,” said Anwar, thanking the clubs for their confidence. He added that the board remains committed to the “growth and development aspired to for Egyptian golf.”
