IGC expands Egypt operations with 500 kV power transmission project
Intelligent Globe Construction (IGC), the engineering and construction arm of Intelligent Group, has expanded its operations in Egypt after signing a partnership agreement with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, represented by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC), to implement a new 500 kV overhead power transmission line supporting the country’s renewable energy expansion.
The project covers the engineering, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of Lot 2 of the 500 kV transmission line extending from the Orascom Substation to El Hawamdeya Substation.
Stretching approximately 61.6 kilometres and featuring four conductors per phase, the turnkey project is designed to transmit electricity generated by wind energy projects in the Gulf of Suez to Egypt’s national electricity grid.
The project will be executed by a consortium led by IGC Egypt in partnership with IGC UAE, combining the technical expertise of both entities in delivering large-scale strategic infrastructure projects.
The agreement was signed by Mona Rizk, Chairperson of EETC, on behalf of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and Mostafa Nabil El Geziry, Chief Executive Officer of Intelligent Group, representing Chairperson Mohamed Amara, in the presence of Ali Mousa, Chief Commercial Officer of Intelligent Group.
The project forms part of the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy’s strategy to strengthen Egypt’s electricity transmission network, expand grid capacity and integrate additional renewable energy generation in line with the country’s clean energy targets.
The announcement coincided with the inauguration of IGC’s new regional headquarters in Cairo, which will serve as the company’s operational hub for Egypt and North Africa.
The new office reflects the group’s strategy to expand its regional footprint and increase investments in infrastructure and energy projects across the region.
Mohamed Amara, Chairperson of Intelligent Group, said the partnership marks a significant milestone in the company’s expansion in Egypt and underscores its commitment to supporting the country’s strategic infrastructure projects through global engineering expertise and long-term partnerships.
Founded in 2007, IGC specialises in engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services across the infrastructure and energy sectors in Egypt and the UAE.
The company delivers power transmission and distribution projects, substations, automation solutions and digital control systems, operating in accordance with internationally recognised quality, environmental and occupational health and safety management standards.
