Overview :

 El Gouna is located north of Hurghada, directly on the Red Sea.The Egyptian entrepreneur Samih Sawiris had this vacation resort built in 1989. El Gouna was built in a mixture of traditional Nubian style and modern architecture. The city has 19 different hotels with different categories.El Gouna has a 10 km long beach.

El Gouna is also called the Venice of Egypt. El Gouna has about 100 restaurants of all kinds , a public transport network with buses and boats , several schools , a campus of the TU Berlin , a church and a mosque.The old large marina Abu Tig Marina offers 117 berths for boats and yachts up to a maximum length of 40 meters. Nearby, the new large marina New Marina was opened in 2009 for yachts up to 60 m in length.There is also the smaller Abydos Marina at the other end of the city.

The waste water from the hotels is filtered in treatment plants and used for the irrigation of the hotel gardens and the 18 hole golf course.
El Gouna beach stretches across several lagoons and is lined with numerous hotels to suit all tastes.El Gouna translates as the lagoon.El Gouna is known for its artificial , beautiful and turquoise lagoons.
